Summer is all about being fun and bold with beauty. Whether you chose to go for the ‘no makeup’ look with day-glo nails, bright makeup with a soft pastel manicure or bold makeup with miss match nail art – there are literally no rules! So this year, don’t feel pressured by the ‘latest nail trends’ and go for what you feel like!
If you are into your bright shades then you are in luck, as this spring/summer has seen a lot of bold nail polishes. A bright range for 2012 is the China Glaze Electropop collection includes some vibrant crème shades. As you can see, Wicked Style is one lovely glossy pink nail polish! A new collection full of neon brights is Models Own & Hedkandi collaboration – Beach Party (neon orange) and Balearic Cool (a vibrant aqua blue) are two perfect shades to wear on both the fingers and toes. The collection also includes two amazing glitter topcoats: Ibiza Mix and Disco Heaven for festival ready nails!
On the high street there are also lots of bright nail polishes to be had. The NYC In A New York Colour Minute Quick Dry Nail Polishes range has some great vibrant shades and dries to a glossy finish in no time. Water Street Blue, Spring Street (pictured) and Times Square fit the bill perfectly!
Maybelline’s newer little sister nail polish line – MNY also have some bargain brights with Canary Yellow 749 (pictured) being the brightest of them all, alongside some bright shimmery offerings including Emerald Green, Shimmery Purple and Mermaid Blue.
However, if pastels are more to your taste then you are also spoilt for choice this summer with some amazing delicate shades. Maybelline added three delicious pastel shades to their existing Forever Strong Pro collection with Ceramic Blue, Porcelain Pink and Lilac Charm which really are comparative to much higher end nail polishes due to the smooth finish and durability.
If you are looking for a pastel collection that is cool toned then look no further than the Orly Cool Romance Spring Collection. With more muted pastel shades, the collection feels very chic and wearable. Jealous, Much? is a very flattering light mint green, as is You’re Blushing (a light purple taupe) – a perfect polish if you want to opt for a darker pastel shade.
Lastly, if you are going for chic pastel nails why not make them scented with Revlon Scented Nail Enamel! Cotton Candy, Peach Smoothie and Gum Drop are all pastel shades that dry down to reveal a sweet smelling fragrance, giving you that summer feeling even on the gloomiest of days!
